Use the first three segments of your current IP address. And, if your computer’s IP address is 10.0.0.1, you can use an IP address that begins with 10.0.0.X, where X is any number between 1 and 254. But make sure you do not set your computer’s IP address to be the same as your router’s IP address.

Subnet Mask:

Normally, on a home network, the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.

Default Gateway:

It’s your router’s IP address, or the IP address of any other gateway, as an access point

DNS Server:

You can use the numbers already entered in this field. The DNS server numbers you noticed in the Network Connection Details box can use instead if you don’t have them. Alternately, you can make use of Google’s preferred DNS servers, which are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

12. At last, hit OK and then close the Properties window. Your changes will not affect you until you close the WiFi/Ethernet Properties window.

How To Change Spectrum WiFi Network Name and Password

By going to your router’s IP address, you can modify the name and password of your Spectrum WiFi network. Afterward, log in and select the band you’d like to replace it with. Then, add your new password and network name under the Basic tab before clicking Apply.

1. On the back of your Spectrum router, you should be able to find the IP address of your router. It can find right next to the login for your router. 192.168.1.1 is the most common IP address. It’s possible, however, that your set-up will alter this.

Important: To make things simple for you, it is best to write down your Router login, Username, & Password. You’ll need this information later.

2. Now, open a web browser. It can be Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or any other web browser you need to use.

3. Type your router’s IP address into the address bar.

4. Then press Enter on your keyboard.

Note: In case you see a warning screen that says, “Your connection is not private,” tap Advanced and then Proceed to…

5. Afterward, enter the name and password for your Spectrum WiFi router and tap Login. You should even be able to find this info on your router.

Important: Your WiFi username and password are not the same things. Spectrum routers’ default login and password are admin and admin, respectively.

6. Then tap Advanced. You’ll see this on the upper side of your window. In addition, if you do not see this, you can skip this step.

7. Next, choose the 2.4GHz or 5GHz WiFi panel. If you’ve a dual-band router, you can select between two different bands, each with its WiFi network name & password.

8. Then tap on the Basic tab.

9. After that, type in a new network name in the SSID area. You can also refer to your network name as an SSID, which stands for “Service Set Identifier.” Make sure you pick a name you’ll remember. Personal information like your name or address should not be included, as anyone within the range of the network name will be able to access it.

10. Then, type in a new password for WiFi. This field can be found in the Security Settings section. WPA2 Personal is the default security setting, and Spectrum advises you to leave it that way.

11. Next, confirm your new Wi-Fi password. Then, retype your new password in the box that follows.

12. At last, click Apply. This option is located at the bottom right of the page. Tapping on this button will save your changes.

Note: You will be logged out of the WiFi network you are presently using if you change the network name or password. Additionally, changing the parameters for the band you aren’t currently using is recommended. When this is done, you can switch networks and adjust to the other band.

4. Toggle the slider to turn on the personal hotspot. You’ll know it is on if it is green.

5. At last, enter a password.

Since your device is now a hotspot, you’ll have access to a new WiFi network named after it.

How to Use Mobile Hotspot on Android

If you are using an Android, here is how to turn on tethering to share your data:

1. Go to Settings.

2. Then click your network and connectivity settings option.

• On Samsung phones, it will be under “Connections.”
• Motorola Moto & Google Pixel users will be under “Network & Internet.”
• LG phone users will find this option under “Tethering.”
• Huawei users will need to go to “Wireless & Networks.”

3. Open Hotspot & Tethering. It may even be labeled “Tethering & Portable Hotspot” on your phone.

4. Click Portable Hotspot.

5. Toggle the switch on to share your data. On this page, you can select to configure your hotspot settings, like your data limit, network name, password, etc.

Swipe down from the top of your phone screen to get the quick access menu and pick Mobile Hotspot from the drop-down menu.

How to Create a Mobile Hotspot with a Mac

If you are working on a Mac, here is how to set up a mobile hotspot:

1. Tap on the Apple icon on the top left corner of your screen.

2. Then tap System Preferences.

3. Choose Sharing.

4. Tap Internet Sharing on the lower-left panel.

Click Wi-Fi options at the bottom-right of the System Preferences window if you wish to alter your hotspot settings. For example, your computer’s default network name can be changed, or a password can be created for your Wi-Fi connection.

How to Connect Mobile Hotspot to PC

For Windows users, follow the below instructions to set up a mobile hotspot from your computer:

1. Tap the Windows start button. It is the button shaped like the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner of your screen.

2. Then choose Settings. It is the gear-shaped icon just above the power icon.

3. Go to Network & Internet.

4. Then tap Mobile Hotspot. It will be located in the left sidebar.

5. Select the connection that you want to share. Your options will depend on what type of internet connection your computer has.

6. Choose Wi-Fi from the “Share my Internet connection over” list.

7. Now, turn on “Share my Internet connection with other devices.”
